Privacy policy

The internet is a scary place and we want you to feel safe with us. That's why we're about to tell you exactly what information we will collect from you here, and what it is used for.

Collection of Personal Information:

You will be asked to register to use a number of the aspects of this website. This is for two reasons:

1) It allows us to have accurate numbers on how many people our campaign has reached. We need this for a bunch of reasons. You know that gang mentality that results in people getting bullied everyday? Well, we plan to use that to convince people to STAND UP to Bullying! We believe the world is ready for a change when it comes to bullying, but we need to show off exactly how many people agree with us! If you have registered as a participant, we may need to use your name, website address (if you included one), and general location (city and state/province) to make this message clear. We will never give away any specific personal information such as a street address, a credit card number, a phone number, your email address, etc.

2) It allows us to organize our STAND UP Pledge Shirts ordering process. Although you're not committed to order shirts after registering, your information is stored in our database so if you do choose to (and we really hope you will!) you won't have to enter all of your info again. You will need to enter a credit card number, but only if you do choose to order some shirts. Our ordering process is 100% secure (industry leading) and we will never divulge your credit card, or billing information to anyone, ever.

We may also collect some other random information about your computer while you visit our site. This is meant to enhance our website for you. For example, our site may automatically figure out which type of Internet Browser you are using (Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari, Opera, etc). Each browser makes our site look different, so we need to change a few things on the fly to keep it looking pretty for each type of browser. We may also place a "cookie" on your computer so our website remembers who you are when you return. This is only mean to enhance your experience and won't result in spam emails or anything that could bug you in the future.

Our Other Sites:

We are always brainstorming new innovative ways to stop bullying in our society. We currently have more than 5 separate projects on the go all aimed at addressing and stopping bullying in our world. We may use the information you submit on this website to inform you about some of our other projects from time to time. We're not clueless, and we realize that sending you an email once a week about anti-bullying websites could get annoying, so we won't abuse this. We will include an "opt-out" link at the bottom of each email to allow you to stop the emails at any time. We may also use your information to mail you information on some of these programs as well. We are yet to find someone on this planet who doesn't like getting mail, but if you think this describes you, give us a call at 1-888-285-5998 and we will remove you from our mailing list. Same goes for faxes, we may fax you some stuff every now and then about our other initiatives. Each fax will include a toll-free number to allow you to remove yourself from the list.

Children's Online Privacy Act:

Bully Help Initiatives Inc. and StandUpDay.com make every effort to be in compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998. We'll explain the act a little below and then tell you what we do to meet its requirements.

About the Act: If you operate a commercial Web site or an online service directed to children under 13 that collects personal information from children or if you operate a general audience Web site and have actual knowledge that you are collecting personal information from children, you must comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act. The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act and Rule apply to individually identifiable information about a child that is collected online, such as full name, home address, email address, telephone number or any other information that would allow someone to identify or contact the child. The Act and Rule also cover other types of information -- for example, hobbies, interests and information collected through cookies or other types of tracking mechanisms -- when they are tied to individually identifiable information.

As you can probably see, this act is a very good thing! There's a lot of creepy people out there trying to get a hold of our youngest, most innocent citizens and we need to protect them. Although we encourage individuals of ALL ages to take a stand against bullying by registering on our site, we ask that if you are 13 years of age or younger, you register with completely fake information! That's right, give us your real name, but then fill in everything else with the information for Mickey Mouse, Donald the Duck, or some other random character that has nothing to do with you. Lying is bad, but not when it's meant to protect your safety. If you want to order a stand up pledge shirt, you'll have to get your parent or guardian to register as well with real information and we will send the shirt to them.

Send to a Friend:

If you choose to use our referral service to tell a friend about our site, we will ask you for your friend's name and email address. We will automatically send your friend a one-time email inviting him or her to visit the site. We do not store this information and use it for the sole purpose of sending this one-time email.

SSL Encryption:

All pages on STANDUPDAY.com which ask for or submit personal information about you, are sent through a secure 128 bit encryption SSL to our servers. This includes all user registration pages, any page showcasing products, and all pages displaying your shopping cart or used to process your order of shirts and/or event packages.
